Adventures in the Forgotten Realms brings Magic full circle by taking us to the Forgotten Realms, the primary world of Dungeons & Dragons!
This set features 281 new cards that bring your favorite spells, characters, creatures, and gear from Dungeons & Dragons to Magic: the Gathering!
This set features an all-new dungeon mechanic!
Dungeons are found in the token slot of packs and do not count towards your deck or sideboard. You have access to all three dungeons whenever you play.
Some cards will instruct you to, “venture into the dungeon.” When you do, if you’re not currently in a dungeon, select one from the available options. Otherwise move further into the dungeon following the flowchart and activate whatever effect is shown in the room you end in.
Showcase frames for this set feature throwbacks to D&D adventure module covers and interior art pieces!
Can I interest you in this alternate, extended art, Vorpal Sword?
How often do we see a card with the text, “that player loses the game?”
Magic: the Gathering Adventures in the Forgotten Realms releases July 23, 2021 with early release pre-release week products available starting July 16th!
With the restrictions on organized play being lifted by Wizards of the Coast, we’ve decided its time to get back into the swing of things with the return of FNM at The Comic Shop! In the concern of the continued safety of our customers space will be limited to 16 players for the time being; but to kick things off we thought we’d do something special.
The inaugural FNM hosted at The Comic Shop in our all-new play space on May 28th starting at 6:00PM will be a FREE STRIXHAVEN DRAFT with FULL PRIZE SUPPORT.
What does that mean?
Each participant will be given three packs of Strixhaven to draft and build their best 40 card deck to compete in three rounds of tournament play for additional prize booster packs! Basic lands will be available for players to borrow for the event should they not have their own on hand.
You said prizes. What are we looking at here?
Prize payout is as follows and is based on the player’s record:
Each participant is guaranteed at least one prize pack to go along with the three packs they drafted from at the beginning of the event. On a normal night we’d be charging $15 for this event, but on the 28th it will be absolutely free!
This is only the beginning of what we have planned for Magic: the Gathering organized play at The Comic Shop!
Where do I sign up?
You can sign-up in store or on your mobile device using the Magic Companion app using the code: J7DX3J
May 28th. 6PM. Free Strixhaven Draft. Full Prize Support.
Modern Horizons 2. A set so prestigious that it needs, no DEMANDS, its own post.
A bit of a modern touch.
Modern Horizons 2 continues the work started by Modern Horizons, bringing new and classic cards to the Modern format.
The set features 303 cards that for the vast majority are new to Modern by either being a reprint in this set or being a brand new card altogether! So far we’ve seen Abundant Harvest being printed in the Strixhaven Mystical Archive as a bit of a teaser, but shown off during a recent stream we got these cards as well:
Wait! You said most of the cards are new to Modern! What isn’t?
How about these?
That’s right! The full set of enemy colored fetches will be returning in Modern Horizons 2 at rare! But maybe you have a set of old fetchlands from Onslaught that could use some new friends?
This is not even scratching the surface of what Modern Horizons 2 will contain!
To top it all off, Modern Horizons 2 will possibly mark the first pre-release event held in-store at The Comic Shop since Throne of Eldraine back in 2019! More info on the status of the pre-release will appear here soon with details on how we’re going to conduct tournaments safely at The Comic Shop!
Due to the limited nature of this product, preorders will only become available as product is confirmed. For starters though, we can offer preorders on Set Booster boxes where you get 10% off along with a buy-a-box promo! Set Booster boxes will be available for pickup during pre-release week!
May is here and along with it comes a new set of games to preorder available in-store and online at The Comic Shop!
Things that go bump in the night!
Terror stalks the nightmare realms of Ravenloft. No one knows this better than monster scholar Rudolph Van Richten. To arm a new generation against the creatures of the night, Van Richten has compiled his correspondence and case files into this tome of eerie tales and chilling truths.
Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft is the latest supplemental release for Dungeons & Dragons! Inside you’ll find details on all sorts of spooky things that make Ravenloft their home. Apply new horror themed backgrounds to your characters along with a number of new lineages! Pick up one of the two new subclasses for bards or warlocks and deal with the dead or undead!
Dungeons & Dragons: Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft releases May 18th, 2021.
Don’t become a forgotten rerun!
The Rival Networks is a standalone two-player version of The Networks. Much of the original’s gameplay is preserved, but streamlined so that it plays in 30-45 minutes. You and your opponent each have a display of 3 Timeslots, and at the start of the game, they show your starting 3 (terrible) Shows. There is also a Goal Card showing for the current Season, with 3 Goals available to hit (like winning a particular Timeslot, or having more Stars on your Shows than your opponent).
The Rival Networks is expected to go on-the-air May 19th, 2021.
Inteleon uses Snipe Shot!
The Secret Agent Pokémon lurks discreetly in corners, ready to strike when the moment is right! Add Inteleon VMAX to your team with this League-ready deck for skilled Trainers and Pokémon TCG players. With premium foil cards, sought-after power cards, and a well-tuned set of Pokémon and Trainer cards, the Inteleon VMAX League Battle Deck does more than feature one of the first partner Pokémon of the Galar region: it puts together all the elements to support you in your next match against friends and neighbors, in person or online!
While expected on May 21st, 2021, Pokémon product continues to be limited in supply. Keep an eye on our social media outlets to be the first to know when new Pokémon product arrives in-store!
April is upon us and so are another round of game preorders available in-store and online at The Comic Shop!
Strixhaven: School of Mages is the latest regular expansion for Magic: the Gathering containing 275 new cards to add to your collection! Strixhaven is billed as the most prestigious magic school in the multiverse and includes five different colleges you can explore to see what best fits your play style.
Each school is themed around an enemy color pair and was founded by a different Elder Dragon!
Continuing a theme from the previous set of reprinting awesome cards, Strixhaven includes a subset of 63 instants and sorceries found in the eponymous school’s Mystical Archive! These cards are presented in a unique frame and include a number of favorites from the past.
How about a couple of examples!
The regular versions of these cards look fantastic, but only in Collector Boosters will you find these Japanese versions that I think look even better!
Most Mystical Archive cards will unfortunately not be standard legal, but they will make your eternal and commander decks look fantastic! (Of course now I have to get eight more copies of Lightning Bolt for my collection…)
Additionally! Any purchase of a box or six pre-release packs of Strixhaven: School of Mages will include a foil extended-art Dragonsguard Elite while supplies last!
With the continued prohibition on in-store play, pre-release will be once again available over the web at the store’s Discord channel! Come hang out with us and talk about the new and exciting cards that we get to play with!
It’s been a few minutes since we’ve checked in to discuss what cool new gaming products we have coming soon to The Comic Shop!
Candlekeep attracts scholars like a flame attracts moths. Historians, sages, and others who crave knowledge flock to this library fortress to peruse its vast collection of books, scribbled into which are the answers to the mysteries that bedevil them. Many of these books contain their own mysteries—each one a doorway to adventure. Dare you cross that threshold?
Candlekeep Mysteries is a collection of seventeen short, stand-alone D&D adventures designed for characters of levels 1–16. Each adventure begins with the discovery of a book, and each book is the key to a door behind which danger and glory await. These adventures can be run as one-shot games, plugged into an existing Forgotten Realms campaign, or adapted for other campaign settings. This book also includes a poster map of the library fortress and detailed descriptions of Candlekeep and its inhabitants.
Candlekeep Mysteries will be available starting March 16th, 2021.
A reprint set for Magic: the Gathering containing a selection of cards from the original Time Spiral block, Time Spiral Remastered is a chance to revisit a popular limited format from… checks notes… 15 years ago! Wow!
As a cool added bonus, each pack will contain a timeshifted, old-frame variant of a modern legal card that did not appear in the original Time Spiral.
How about a couple of examples!
I think these cards look fantastic in this treatment!
Additionally! Any purchase of a box of Time Spiral Remastered will include a foil old-frame Lotus Bloom while supplies last!
Time Spiral Remastered releases March 19th, 2021.
The latest release for the Pokémon Trading Card Game; this set features concepts from Pokémon Sword & Shield’s DLC, The Isle of Armor.
Pokémon in this set can be of two battle styles, Single Strike or Rapid Strike. Single Strike Pokémon focus on dealing a tremendous amount of damage in one blow, while Rapid Strike Pokémon tend to favor more technical encounters.
Due to the wild demand for Pokémon product right now, I cannot offer links to preorder the new set. I do recommend stopping by the shop and seeing what is available on release.
Sword & Shield – Battle Styles will (hopefully) also be available on March 19th, 2021.
It’s time for the 2021 Challenger Decks for Magic: the Gathering!
Challenger decks are a great entry point into standard Magic play featuring pre-built decks that are proven in the format.
Featuring four popular archetypes, these decks are suitable to be played out of the box and feature multiple copies of popular cards that allow the deck to function smoothly!
Just wanted to let you fine folks know that we have some awesome game-related items available for preorder that will be releasing in the month of September!

If you preorder between now and September 24th, you will get 10% off your order! If that’s not enough to get you excited, what if I were to tell you we’re going to be raffling off a couple of Double Masters box topper cards to two lucky customers that preorder Zendikar Rising product?
What cards you might ask?

Set Boosters? What in the Blind Eternities are Set Boosters?
Set Boosters are a new type of booster pack freed from the constraints of the draft format and are an attempt to bring back the joy in opening booster product. Set boosters contain:
– A land card that 15% of the time can be a foil; – Six connected commons or uncommons that can be any combination of the two rarities; – A common or uncommon showcase card; two wildcard rarity cards that can can contain anything from commons all the way to mythic rares; – A guaranteed rare or mythic rare card; – A guaranteed foil that can be any rarity; – And a token/ad card that 1-in-4 will instead be a card from “The List,” a collection of fun cards from Magic’s past that can be any rarity.
For those keeping count, you can get up to five rares in a single pack!
Well dang! That sounds fantastic! Where can I preorder these fine products!?
Right here my friend:
You said “games.” What else is coming out in September?
Do you like Dragons and/or the Dungeons they reside in? Then how about this:
Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden is the next campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons! There are some mad wizards up to no good in the northern reaches of the Forgotten Realms! Perhaps you and your adventuring party are brave enough to tackle these challenges?
In addition to the usual manuals that we offer when a D&D campaign setting is released, we’re also offering this fine dice set that contains some additional goodies to spice up your trip to the north.
We’re looking to try and get a more regular schedule setup to run weekly tournaments on MTG Arena for the month of June while social distancing rules continue to be in effect. What day and time frame works best for you to participate in an event on MTG Arena?
Marvel Champions: The Card Game is a cooperative living card game set in the Marvel universe! Each player chooses a deck that represents their chosen hero and combines it with an add-on deck that represents various heroic aspects and faces off with the villains of the chosen scenario. Heroes spend time both in and out of costume working to equip themselves to take down the given threat. In the base game, players can play as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, She-Hulk, or Spider-Man and face off against Klaw, Rhino, or Ultron.
Being a living card game, Fantasy Flight Games has planned a number of expansions that increase the number of playable heroes, along with additional scenarios to face.
I think this looks like a fun game that can be played by up to four players or even solo!
Be sure to check out all the other excellent games by Asmodee that we offer here at The Comic Shop!
